Evaluations - Prostate Screening
Prostate cancer is a common type of cancer in American men. The prostate is a golf ball size gland that is located underneath the bladder and in front of the rectum. Prostate cancer is typically a slow growing cancer. Screening tests can identify most prostate cancers before symptoms develop. Many forms of prostate cancer can be treated if detected early. The American Cancer Society recommends that men receive a yearly digital rectal examination and PSA blood test beginning at age 50. The American Cancer Society recommends that men at high risk for prostate cancer be tested earlier at age 40 or 45.
